Baby Memorial Garden

The Park Crematorium, Guildford Road, Aldershot, Hampshire GU12 4BP

Memorial garden for babies and children

We have a memorial garden for babies and children at Aldershot Crematorium.

Our beautiful baby and children's memorial garden was created by Susie Black who is a bereaved mother and a member of Farnborough Sands. Susie is mother to Isabelle who was sadly stillborn 2012 and created this garden as the perfect place to remember babies and reflect.

There is a memorial wall which has the inscription "A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam and for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world but then it flies on again and although we wish it could have stayed we are so thankful to have seen it at all.

You can also light a candle for your baby and leave it on the wall.

The garden opened in July 2016 and was made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of Farnborough SANDS members, generous donations from individuals and businesses, Rushmoor Borough Council and a grant from the Farnborough airport community environment fund

Garden design

The design features gentle curving paths that take the visitor on a journey

through light feathery planting.

Plants have been carefully chosen to attract wildlife and provide year-round interest. Specimen trees and shrubs have brought structure and shelter to the area.

The garden includes modern sculptures, a moon bed where engraved pebbles can be laid,

along with curved benches and the memorial wall, where visitors can light a candle for their loved one.

Please be aware that we will not be scattering any cremated remains in the memorial garden. After careful discussion with the crematorium staff, we have agreed to keep the garden as an area of remembrance and we will keep our special woodland scattering area for that purpose.

If you would like a pebble engraved with your baby`s name and birth date, please complete the attached form and email to laura@farnboroughsands.co.uk, payment details are on the form.
