Baby Memorial Garden

Farnborough Sands have been given a wonderful opportunity to join forces with Aldershot Crematorium to design and build a memorial garden in their beautiful grounds. Local Garden Designer and bereaved parent, Susie Black, has created a design where families can come to grieve and remember their loved ones, in their own unique way. The garden is intended to be a natural, gentle space in which to pause and reflect with opportunities to leave a personalised memorial if desired.

Spending time in and around nature has been widely recognised as having a soothing and restorative effect on people’s mental health. Many charities and indeed other regional Sands groups have created gardens with this therapeutic aspect in mind. We are excited to be part of this project and hope that the space offers all those that visit it a renewed connection with their loved one. We also hope, through some energetic Marketing, we can make many more people aware of the fantastic works Sands do every day, access bereaved families that perhaps have not been as well supported as they could be, and encourage community support in recognition of how child and baby loss affects us all.
We are currently in the planning stages, collating quotes, finalising details etc and look forward to a busy fundraising phase to enable Farnborough Sands to contribute to the project. The garden is due to complete in Spring 2016.
