News

Thank you to those who attended the October evening support meeting,  it was a nice relaxed atmosphere where we spoke freely about our losses and how we are dealing with them. We also heard from members who have had rainbow babies and the way they dealt with pregnancy after loss.

The November meeting will be held on Wednesday 29th November.

The evening support meetings are a friendly and informal get together in a bereaved parents home, both mum and dad are welcome to come along.

For more details, and if you would like to attend, please contact laura@farnboroughsands.co.uk

Wave of Light Service

Sunday 15th October
Baby Memorial Garden, Aldershot Crematorium

Sunday 15th October marked  International Pregnancy and Infant Loss day, and the end of Baby Loss Awareness week, and across the globe there were held Wave of Light services, where candles and lights were lit in memory of all the babies taken too soon.

Farnborough Sands held our own service, for the second year at our Baby Memorial Garden.

The service was held at 6.45pm and at 7pm candles were lit by all who attended in memory of theirs and all babies lost at any stage of pregnancy or after birth.
There were some beautiful poems read by some brave parents, and Laura read the names of all the babies whose parents attended the service, and a few who couldn`t.

The readings and service were followed by hot chocolate and biscuits for those that stayed a while to reflect and admire the poignancy and beauty of the garden in candle light.
We had a lovely turn out, with many parents, and siblings of all the angel babies remembering them with love.
Many thanks to Aldershot Crematorium for opening their gates to allow us to hold this service here for the second year, and to all those who attended and helped make the evening a lovely service and memorial to our angels.

Baby Loss Awareness Week

posted 9 Oct 2013, 16:09 by Laura Drummond

This week is Baby Loss Awareness Week in the UK. Each year, from 9-15 October, bereaved parents can commemorate their babies’ all-too-brief lives, knowing that thousands of parents elsewhere in the world will be doing the same. Baby Loss Awareness Week also provides a crucial opportunity for people to talk openly about this subject, so that awareness is raised across society and bereaved mums and dads feel less alone, and less isolated by their grief.

October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day across the world. We would like to invite you to take part in the global 'Wave of Light'. Simply light a candle at 7pm and leave it burning for at least 1 hour to join us in remembering all babies that have died during pregnancy, at, during or after birth. This can be done individually or in a group, at home or in a communal space. Wherever you do this, you will be joining a global wave of light in memory of all the babies who lit up our lives for such a short time.
